Story I: The protagonist

“Show must go on” se dijo.

The young woman sat down on the bench. She set her back against the back, closed her eyes and turned her face in to the sun. She needed to feel the rays of light, the heat that they produced in her skin as the cool breeze of that morning caressed her. She wanted to get some air, stop thinking for a moment and enjoy it. She was tired. Life was too heavy for her. She needed a break that time was not ready to give her. The smell of freshly cut grass was relaxing. The shouts of the children in the park were her background music.

The church bells broke her calm and brought her back to reality. “Show must go on,” she told herself. She got up from the bench and hung her bag on her left shoulder. It was always the left one. And it was always the same purse. Neither too big nor small, with long, thin handles, and brown.

She continued her journey towards the end of the road. Her rate was slow, as if she were avoiding the destination. That’s when she realized. She wanted to become the protagonist of her life.
